LVML Computer Room
The Large-scale Virtualization and Modeling Lab (LVML) is a sophisticated environment for audio-visual 3D simulation and modeling.
The LVML Computer Room comprises powerful workstations and specialist software for state-of-the-art research projects and teaching programs on GIS-based 3D visualization and modeling.
Our main goal is to bring scientific knowledge into decision making enacting landscape change. Particularly, when planning and design is used to frame the natural and physical sciences, GIS-based 3D visualization and modeling can help incorporate scientific knowledge and methods in local place making.
Embedded in collaborative platforms, such computational design approaches linked to scientific knowledge can become a valuable communication tool in planning processes. Interactive decision support systems combined with 3D visualizations and further linked information is known to increase confidence in choice, and to facilitate the communication of synergies and trade-offs between values for certain services provided by a given design.
Such methods and techniques of 3D visualization and modeling are integrated into our education program in order to train students on working with the new instruments and making them fit for practice and research.
