Project Week Landscape Development - project opening in Arth with Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga

One year after the Project Week Landscape Development in Arth SZ - on International Biodiversity Day - one of the student projects was handed over to the public.

by Celine Catalano

Four students worked on developing the valley between Goldau and Arth during the Project Week Landscape Development 2020. This has now resulted in an alley of trees with over 150 standard fruit and nut trees. They enhance the landscape and contribute to biodiversity. This project was now opened by Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga in Arth (SZ) on 22 May 2021.
In this student project, the four students relied on the approach of integrated landscape development and worked together with various actors: A farming family provided the land in the valley, and the federal government, the canton and the Swiss Landscape Fund supported the project financially and organisationally. In addition to the Federal Councillor, the Director of the FOEN Katrin Schneeberger, the Head of the Cantonal Department of the Environment Sandro Patierno and other cantonal and communal representatives and invited guests were present at the opening.
Congratulations to our students on this successful and high-profile project implementation!
