Starting with the “GELAN – Satellite technology” project, Daniel Schweizer joined PLUS as a research assistant.
Daniel Schweizer has already been at ETH Zurich during his bachelor and master studies in environmental engineering. He finished his studies in October 2018 and then worked in an engineering office with focus on urban drainage systems and hydraulic engineering. To apply and further develop his knowledge & skills in programming, GIS systems and satellite technologies, Daniel joined PLUS as a research assistant working on the GELAN project. In this project, a new tool for the agricultural administration of the Swiss Cantons of Bern, Solothurn and Fribourg will be developed, which aims to use Sentinel-2 remote sensing data to monitor agricultural land use and improve erosion risk detection.

Nora Bögli graduated from her master studies in Environmental Sciences at ETH with a major in Environmental Systems and Policy. Within the scope of an internship in 2018 in Bern, her interests in urban and social planing expanded. This led her to write her Master’s thesis at PLUS as part of the ERC GLOBESCAPE project where she focused on processes behind place-making in peri-urban neighborhoods of Olten, Switzerland. Since the beginning of this February she continues working in the project focusing on predicting adaptive pathways of peri-urban landscape transformation and designing planning strategies to support provision of desired ecosystem services through participatory workshops.
