In Memoriam Prof. Dr. Jakob Maurer

Jakob Maurer, emeritus professor of spatial planning at ETH Zurich, passed away on 30 May aged 96. He joined ETH Zurich in 1966 as an assistant professor and worked as full professor of spatial planning methodology from 1977 until his retirement in 1997. He devoted himself in research and practice to spatial management and urban transformation. Jakob Maurer was head of the interdisciplinary postgraduate programme in spatial planning for many years and significantly contributed to the high esteem of the spatial planning education both in Switzerland and abroad.
