Dissertation Derek Vollmer
Derek Vollmer successfully defended his PhD dissertation "Tradeoffs and institutional arrangements for enhancing the societal value of ecosystem services within an urbanized river catchment".
The study demonstrates an approach to generating knowledge on ecosystem service supply, demand, and tradeoffs, and frames this information within a social context. His research helped characterize the location and heterogeneity of residents' preferences for services provided by the Ciliwung River catchment in metropolitan Jakarta, Indonesia, part of an interdisciplinary project within the Singapore-ETH Centre's Future Cities Laboratory.
